Recording a Quick Vox

To make a greeting, we need to add a Vox to the list of Actions.  A Vox is an Action that plays a sound file.  You can record Voxes in your own voice You can fill out the Voice field when recording a Quick Vox or Library Vox. Filling out the Description is optional, but it allows you to keep track of your Voxes more easily., or have somebody record them for you.

To add a Vox to the Main A list of Actions that determine what will happen once the caller enters a Module. Each Module has its own unique Main. The Main is marked with an orange arrow. :

  1. Right click on the word "Main" and select "Add Vox." A Vox icon will appear below the word "Main" and above the Goto A Goto is an Action that sends callers to another Module. A Goto is a Terminal Action. This means it will be the last Action in an Actions List. .

  2. Click on the Vox icon so that it is highlighted in blue.

  3. On the right side of the screen you’ll notice an area that is filled with a three-column table.  This is the Action Properties Table, and is where you edit each individual command in the Main.  Do not confuse this table with the Properties Panel in the lower left corner.  The Properties Table directly corresponds with the open Module.  Double-click on the "None" cell in the Properties Table. A table in which all the Properties Properties allow you to control specific details of the program and how it runs. For example, the "Allow Barge-in" property detirmines whether the caller will be allowed to interrupt the system and jump ahead without listening to every single Vox. All the Properties are automatically set to their default value when you create a new Project. You can change the Properties for a specific item from the Properties Table, or you can change Properties for the entire Project from the Project Properties box. for any Module Modules are the individual elements you use to create your Information System. When you create an Information System, you are crafting a conversation between a computer and a live person. Each Module represents a single, distinct portion of that conversation. The different types of Modules are: Start, List, Multilevel, Overview, Yes/No, Goto, Hangup, Transfer, Global, Global Yes/No and Goto Project. Each Module has its own unique function and symbol., Action An Action is a specific command that you can add to an Action List. There are five types of Actions: Vox, Listen, Goto, Transfer, and Hangup. List, Action, or Grammar The Grammar contains the words and phrases Phrases are all the individual ways that a Concept could be described and are the words and phrases for which the program will listen. Phrases are marked with a double quote. Each individual Phrase that makes up the Phrases is marked by a single quote. for which the program will listen in a given Module. Concepts, Phrases, Confirmations, Responses, and the Phrase Library are all part of the Grammar List. are listed. There is a separate table for all of the Project Each Project you create represents a single Speech Driven Information System. So, if you want to create three separate Information Systems, you will need to create three different Projects. Properties which is visible at all times. This is known as the Project Properties Table.

  4. A yellow dialog box will pop up with two options for the Vox type. Double click on "Quick" to choose a Quick Vox. A Quick Vox is one that you can record immediately in the Properties Table, and is what you’ll choose for the Voxes that you use only once in your Speech Application. This could be any type of system in which you can give information to your callers, such as a Virtual Customer Service Center, a Virtual Technical Support Center, or a Virtual Help Desk. is a general term used to describe the product you are designing with this software.   5. Double click on the upper case word "RECORD"in the Properties Table. This will open up a "New Audio Item" Recording Box A box in which you can record a Vox and fill out its Voice, Description, and Transcript information. which you can use to record your Vox files. The Recording Box looks like this:


     

  6. Fill out the fields in the Recording Box as follows:

Typing out your transcript in full will make recording easier for you, especially if you ever decide to re-record your Vox files later. Your recording box should look something like this:


 

  1. Once all the fields in the recording box are filled out, begin recording by pressing Rec.  Speak into your microphone.  When you are done, press Stop.  You can review your recording by pressing Play.  If you aren’t happy with your recording, you can redo it by just pressing Rec again and pressing Stop when you are done.  

  2. When you are satisfied with your recording, press the OK button. This will close the Recording Box.

  3. Notice that the Voice, Description You can fill out the Description field when recording a Quick Vox or Library Vox. Filling out the Description is optional, but it allows you to keep track of your Voxes more easily., and Transcript fields are now filled out in the Properties Table.

Save your changes by clicking on File > Save.
