Setting up a List Module

A List Module is the most basic type of Module that involves Grammars- that is, a Module in which the caller speaks to the system.  There are several variations on the List Module, and each has its own specific function.  These are Yes/No Modules, Overview Modules, and Multilevel Modules.  You can find instructions in the Help for using each of these Modules by expanding the "Modules" book and choosing the type of Module you wish to learn about.  To set up your List Module, perform the following steps:

  1. Double click on the icon above the words "Main A list of Actions that determine what will happen once the caller enters a Module. Each Module has its own unique Main. The Main is marked with an orange arrow. Menu."  This will open the Main Menu, which is a List Module.

  2. Expand the Main in the top left hand side of the screen by clicking once on the plus sign [+] to the left side of the word "Main."

  3. Right click on the word "Main" and choose "Add Vox " from the popup menu that appears.

  4. Click once on the Vox to highlight it.

  5. Double click on the word "None" in the Properties Table A table in which all the Properties Properties allow you to control specific details of the program and how it runs. For example, the "Allow Barge-in" property detirmines whether the caller will be allowed to interrupt the system and jump ahead without listening to every single Vox. All the Properties are automatically set to their default value when you create a new Project. You can change the Properties for a specific item from the Properties Table, or you can change Properties for the entire Project from the Project Properties box. for any Module Modules are the individual elements you use to create your Information System. When you create an Information System, you are crafting a conversation between a computer and a live person. Each Module represents a single, distinct portion of that conversation. The different types of Modules are: Start, List, Multilevel, Overview, Yes/No, Goto, Hangup, Transfer, Global, Global Yes/No and Goto Project. Each Module has its own unique function and symbol., Action An Action is a specific command that you can add to an Action List. There are five types of Actions: Vox, Listen, Goto, Transfer, and Hangup. List, Action, or Grammar The Grammar contains the words and phrases for which the program will listen in a given Module. Concepts, Phrases, Confirmations, Responses, and the Phrase Library are all part of the Grammar List. are listed. There is a seperate table for all of the Project Each Project you create represents a single Speech Driven Information System. So, if you want to create three separate Information Systems, you will need to create three different Projects. Properties which is visible at all times. This is known as the Project Properties Table..

  6. Double click on the word "Quick" in the yellow box that pops up.

  7. Double click on the word "RECORD."

  8. Fill out the "Quick Record" box that opens as follows:

  2. Click "OK."

  3. Right click on the word "Grammar" in the Grammars area of the screen.

  4. Click on the words "New Concept" in the popup menu.

  1. The "Create a Concept A Concept is a general idea used to describe a group of Phrases. Phrases are the words for which the program will listen. For example, "Locations," "Your location," "Where you're located," and "Your address" are all Phrases that could be used within the Concept of "Locations."" box will open.  Type the word "Apples" in the "New Concept" field.

  2. Click the appropriate boxes to add a Confirmation and a Response.

  3. Type in "apples" in the Phrases field.

  4. Click "Add" to add it to the Phrases Phrases are all the individual ways that a Concept could be described and are the words and phrases for which the program will listen. Phrases are marked with a double quote. Each individual Phrase that makes up the Phrases is marked by a single quote. list below.

  5. Type in "prefer apples" in the Phrases field.

  6. Click "Add" to add it to the Phrases field below.

  1. Click "OK."

  1. A Confirmation A Confirmation double checks with a caller to make sure the system understood their response. This way, your callers will not start receiving information about a topic they are not really interested in. Confirmations are always yes or no questions, such as, "Did you say you're interested in locations?" and a Response A Response gives your customers an answer to their question or directs them to another Module that has the information they need. A Response can contain as many Voxes as you would like AND/OR a Goto OR a Transfer OR a Hangup. will appear beneath the "Apples" Concept.

  1. Right click on the word "Response."

  2. Choose "Add Vox" from the popup menu.

  3. Create a Quick Vox using the method described earlier that says, "Apples are very delicious."

  4. Right click on the word "Response."

  5. Choose "Add Goto A Goto is an Action that sends callers to another Module. A Goto is a Terminal Action. This means it will be the last Action in an Actions List. " from the menu that pops up.

  6. A Goto will be added to the Response.  Click once on it to highlight it.

  7. Double click on the words "(SELECT)" in the Properties Table.

  8. When the "Set Module" box opens, click once on "Goodbye" to highlight it.

  1. Click "OK."

  2. Right click on the word "Confirmation."

  3. Click on "Add Vox" in the popup menu.

  4. Create a Quick Vox that asks, "Did you say you prefer apples?"  Confirmations must always be yes or no questions.

  5. Right click on the word "Grammar" in the Grammars area of the screen.

  6. Click on the words "New Concept" in the popup menu.

  7. The "Create a Concept" box will open.  Type in the word "Bananas" in the "New Concept" field.

  8. Click the appropriate boxes to add a Confirmation and a Response.

  9. Type in "bananas" in the Phrases field.

  10. Click "Add" to add it to the Phrases list below.

  11. Type in "prefer bananas" in the Phrases field.

  12. Click "Add" to add it to the Phrases field below.

  1. Click "OK."

  2. A Confirmation and a Response will appear beneath the "Bananas" Concept.
