For access to Email, each user can be assigned an account through one of the three types of mail servers (POP/SMTP, IMAP/SMTP and MS Exchange). For the selected account the Email address, login name and password must be entered. As each user is selected from the drop-down list, the account information is displayed and can be modified. Passwords are not displayed and are stored in encrypted form for security.

Additionally, some SMTP servers may require separate authentication using either the incoming server's settings or a unique User Name and Password. If this is the case the 'More Settings...' button will take you to the SMTP Settings dialog to allow you to enter this information.

The third type of Email access available through the Assistant is the Microsoft Exchange Server. A login name and password for the user's account are required to access the user's Email even though the machine on which the Assistant is running must have "Administrator" access to the Microsoft Exchange Server.

Microsoft Exchange Server Requirements:
Logon Name & Password - Access to the Exchange Server requires the same name used to logon to the Windows domain that hosts it. For security purposes, LumenVox's Assistant validates both the name and password of the user since the account under which it runs has Administrator access and does not require the user's password.
Dialogic Call Engine Service Log On - Because the Speech Platform Call Engine is run as a service, it normally does not have the same access rights as the logon that may be active on the TeleVantage Server. For the Call Engine, and the Assistant E-Mail, to have access to the domain and the Exchange Server, it must be assigned a "Log On" with Administrator rights on the domain. This is done through the "Properties" for the "Lumenvox Dialogic Call Engine" service in "Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services".
"Act as part of the operating system" - This is an obscure requirement of Microsoft MAPI. Through the "Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Local Security Policy/Local Policies/User Rights Assignment" the "Act as part of the operating system" privilege must be enabled for the account, or the account's group, used by the Dialogic Call Engine Service. This must be done both locally and on the domain server to give the account an "Effective Setting" for this privilege.
