Upgrading to Assistant 7.0 from 6.5 and Older

Because of significant changes to the Assistant's directory structure between the 7.0 branch and the previous 6.5 and older versions, upgrading to the latest version of the Assistant requires a more lengthy installation process than normal.

Backing up Data

Before removing anything, you need to create backup copies of all the settings. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the Assistant installation directory (by default this is C:\Program Files\LumenVox\SDIS\).

 

Find the file called profiles.ini and make a copy of it somewhere you can find it easily. You may want to create a folder on your desktop to store all of the files you will back up.

 

Inside the Assistant install directory, there is a folder called TVDATA.  Open that folder and copy all the files ending in .bts to another location, such as the same place you copied profiles.ini.

 

If you are using a very old version of the Assistant (before 6.5), you will need new licenses. To check your version, open your Start menu, choose All Programs, and look in the LumenVox folder. If you do not have a program called LV GetSystemInfo, please call us at 877-977-0707 (ask for "Support") or e-mail us at support@lumenvox.com for the new licenses.

Uninstalling the Speech Assistant

Open the LV Regstration program and deactivate your current licenses. It will give you a deactivation key that you can type into the website to show us that you have completed the process.

 

Stop all the LumenVox services installed by the Assistant.

 

  1. Open the Windows Control Panel.

  2. Open Administrative Tools.

  3. Open Services.

  4. Stop the following services by selecting their names and clicking the stop button: LumenVox Dialogic Call Engine, LumenVox SRE Server, and the LumenVox Watchdog Service.

 

Next, uninstall the LumenVox Speech Assistant from your computer using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

Installing and Configuring the new Assistant

Install the new version of the Speech Assistant for TeleVantage by running the setup file.

 

Copy the files you backed up into the Assistant installation directory (now C:\Program Files\LumenVox\Assistant\) and into the TVDATA folder.
